The von Huene Workshop, Inc., founded in 1960 by Friedrich and Ingeborg von Huene, makes, sells, and repairs historical woodwinds. The Early Music Shop of New England is a retail store and mail-order division of the von Huene Workshop that sells music, accessories and instruments by all makers of historical woodwinds, strings and keyboards.
At the Early Music Shop & the von Huene Workshop, we are dedicated to providing the best possible instruments and service at the best possible price.
Quality Service is our goal at the Early Music Shop. This may sound basic, but many shops overlook it. We feel that it is the most important part of our business. Service starts well before the customer even sets foot in the shop or calls on the telephone. Service begins with the checking of each instrument that we sell for aesthetic and musical quality, checks that result in better instruments for our customers. Service continues with our sales staff, each an expert in the field, each able to answer your questions logically and clearly. Our staff is trained to help you; we hope you will take advantage of their expertise. Unlike some shops, our policy of service continues after the sale is made. Revoicing of instruments, repairs, and minor adjustments are all done on the premises, quickly and expertly.
Price is important to us here at the Early Music Shop as well. We feel that we offer the most competitive price/service combination available. Our customers are used to the best service and they are accustomed to the best prices as well. If you feel that you can get a better price elsewhere, please let us know. Often we can match it.
For a list of items we sell, please take a look at our catalogs. We are happy to send instruments on approval for those players who wish to compare before making a commitment. We require either a Visa or Mastercard number or payment in advance for one instrument. This enables us to send a selection of two or three, allowing the customer to choose the instrument better suited to his or her playing style. We urge you to do this, as we feel it affords the mail-order customer the choice previously reserved for the walk-in client.
You can order items by mail, over the phone, on the web, by fax, or through e-mail (however, we do not advise sending credit card numbers through e-mail). We accept Visa, Mastercard, checks or money orders. Foreign customers please note: checks must be payable in US funds and drawn on a US bank.
Massachusetts customers are required to pay a 6.25% sales tax.
If you would like to receive our complete catalog and be placed on our list to receive future mailings, please contact us. We are always happy to advise on what is currently in stock or track down special requests.
