Moeck Rottenburgh recorders were designed by Friedrich von Huene after original instruments by the Belgian maker Jean-Hyacinthe Rottenburgh (1672-1756.) They are made in the Hermann Moeck Workshops in Celle, Germany. These instruments have a rich tone and flawless intonation. They are made of carefully selected hardwoods chosen for their beauty and durability. From hardest to softest, the woods we carry are ebony, rosewood, boxwood, and maple. The softer woods have a softer, warmer tone, while the harder woods have a brighter, fuller sound with more volume.
For players who have difficulty with the hand stretch of tenor recorders, the Moeck Rottenburgh is available with additional keys on the center joint for holes 3 and 4, which bring the first and last fingers of each hand closer together for a stretch no larger than that of an alto.
