About the von Huene Workshop
59-65 Boylston St.
Brookline, MA 02445
(617)277-8690
The von Huene Workshop, Inc. was founded in 1960 by Friedrich and Ingeborg von Huene. For more than 50 years, first under Friedrich von Huene and now his son Patrick von Huene, our workshop has produced some of the finest recorders and early flutes in the world.
The Early Music Shop of New England opened in 1980 as the retail division of the von Huene Workshop. In addition to the internationally renowned von Huene recorders, we sell more affordable instruments by makers such as Moeck, Mollenhauer, Küng, Aesthé, and Yamaha, high quality ‘pre-owned’ instruments, accessories (cases, stands, strings, etc.) and an extensive selection of books, facsimiles and sheet music.
Our goal is to offer the best products and services available at an affordable price. Each recorder we sell has been tested and (if necessary) ‘tweaked’ by our expert staff for optimum performance. Our repair staff is among the most skilled in the world (we are the authorised North American repair service for Moeck, Mollenhauer, Küng, Aafab (Coolsma) and Yamaha recorders); most work is done on site within a few days.
Instrument Approvals: If our stock permits, we are happy to ship 2-3 instruments to potential customers for comparison, as each recorder has its own individual personality. We require either payment in full for one instrument in advance, or a Visa/Mastercard/Discover number. Customers must pay shipping costs in both directions, whether they purchase an instrument or not. Regrettably, we are NOT able to offer this service to customers outside the US, nor can we send our hand-made von Huene recorders, as these are normally finished ‘to order’ with a normal waiting time of about 2-3 months.
Ordering: Our business hours are 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday and we are happy to have visitors to try instruments or browse our sheet music. We can accept orders by telephone during that time, or by fax or e-mail any time, or you may place an order on our web site.
Telephone: (617) 277-8690 • Fax: (617) 277-7217
Email: [email protected] • Web site: http://www.vonHuene.com
Payment: We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover; MA residents must add 6.25% sales tax. Customers outside the US, please note: checks must be in US dollars and drawn on a US bank. We can also accept payment by PayPal ([email protected]), but please contact us to make arrangements.
Return Policy: Instruments may be returned within 30 days of receipt for a full refund (less shipping costs) provided they are in ‘like new’ condition. Plastic recorders are NOT returnable.
Sheet music and books may be returned only if defective and only for replacement.
