Makers of Historical Woodwinds Since 1960
P.I. Bressan Flute

Pierre Jailliard Bressan, an immigrant from France to England, became the outstanding woodwind maker of London early in the eighteenth century.  At first he made flutes in three piece in the "French" fashion, but this particular instrument, perhaps one of his last, is a superb example of early four-piece flute construction in the English fasion (all tenons pointing down). With less taper in the bore than later instruments, it offers a particularly fine lower register with remarkably good high notes.

The original was in ebony with silver rings, silver key, and ornate silver inlay over its whole length, and plays at A=410.  Our copy is in ebony with silver rings and silver key, without inlay, and scaled to A=415.

Pictured below is Friedrich's direct copy of the original at A=410 with inlay matching the original as well.  Please call for more information about this instrument.
